I've been there. Hard. What I learned is that you have to make a change if you want to get out of it, especially if a habit got you wherever you are. In my case, I felt alienated and alone because I was struggling through college biology - I wanted to be a doctor. I had to take a hard look at myself and my grades and realize that I wasn't up to snuff academically and I wasn't anything like the other pre-pre-med students. I tried out a course in writing and loved it, and have not looked back since.
Same thing happened last year: my last year of college I decided I want to work for the government. My best avenue was going through law school. ...Or so I thought. I absolutely hated law school. One school year later (and $35,000 down the drain) I decided to join the Navy. I got a job doing exactly what I want to do and, well, I can't say much else because I ship off to Basic in five weeks.
My point is, you can get out of wherever you are if you make an effort. The first step is the hardest, but it pays off in the long run. Don't give up.
D8 *hugs* Honestly Vincent, I feel terrible knowing what you're going through right now. And it really, REALLY frustrates me that I can't do anything to help except leave the odd comment here and there. I truly feel inadequate. But for what it's worth, your fanbase is there for you.
